Miley Cyrus asks teens to help in Haiti relief efforts
WASHINGTON (January 29, 2010) – Friday afternoon, Miley Cyrus posted a video on www.GetUrGoodOn.org encouraging her fans to learn about ways to help people affected by the earthquake in Haiti. “I really believe that young people can make such a huge difference,” said Cyrus.
Cyrus asks youth to visit Get Ur Good On, an online community partnership with Youth Service America (YSA) that supports youth in their commitment to do “good” in their local, national, and global communities, to find ways to help out.
YSA is also offering 100 Get Ur Good On grants (application deadline: February 22) to support youth-led volunteer efforts around the world. Projects can include advocacy, fundraising, and direct service that addresses the world’s most critical needs. The $500 grants will be awarded in March and grant recipients are encouraged to participate to plan their projects around Global Youth Service Day, the largest service event in the world, April 23-25.
Children and youth can apply for grants to fund future projects that will support Haiti’s recovery.
